We are sad to see the end of this year’s Screen on the Green…. but we’re thrilled about this week’s film from famed director Alfred Hitchcock, Psycho! Join us for the final film in Washington’s favorite outdoor film festival tonight.
Marion Crane is fed up with her life. Her relationship with Sam Loomis, a California man who frequents Phoenix for business, is at a standstill. Unable to agree with her lover about the future of her relationship, she leaves their motel meeting place feeling utterly dejected. When her employer trusts her to bank $40,000, however, Crane sees a way out. Packing up her belongings and her newfound financial freedom, Crane begins the journey to her paramour on the West Coast.
Paranoid that she has been found out by her boss — or worse, the authorities! — Crane drives for hours before finally checking in to the Bates Motel. Crane is greeted by the shy and mild-mannered proprietor, Norman Bates.
The mystery surrounding the tragedies at the Bates Motel are sure to thrill moviegoers and the film’s conclusion will leave you chilled to the bone.
As always, the film will begin at dusk on the National Mall between 7th and 12th Streets NW. Get there early to secure your spot!
